SEIU Local 105 Announces Endorsements of State Legislative Democratic Primary Candidates

Committee of Workers Chose Candidates Committed to Championing Working Families

Denver, CO – Today, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 105 announced the state legislative candidates it will support in the upcoming Democratic Primaries in June. The candidates were chosen by the Committee on Political Education (COPE), which is made up of SEIU Local 105 members. This voluntary, bi-partisan committee helps hold politicians accountable at every level of government and ensures they are supporting policies that champion the state’s working families. Candidates chosen this year by the committee showed a strong commitment to stand up publicly for the rights of workers and build an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.

“Our state’s economy is growing, but that doesn’t mean that everyone is benefiting,” said COPE Committee President Mike Howard. “This year we continued our commitment to endorse candidates who are willing to speak up publicly and support our rights as workers. This includes fighting for the causes of home care aides, airport security employees, custodians, clinicians, and the many other workers we represent. This also means championing the efforts of workers at the airport and healthcare centers who are still fighting every day for a voice on the job and the opportunity to provide the best possible life for their families.  We want to make sure we are building an environment where everyone can succeed and get ahead, and that means supporting candidates who share those values.”

This year’s endorsements include:

State Senate District 34: Julie Gonzales

State House District 4: Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez

State House District 5: Alex Valdez

State House District 9: Emily Sirota

State House District 24: Monica Duran

State House District 34: Kyle Mullica

State House District 50: Rochelle Galindo
