Denver Janitors Win Historic New Contract!
(June 23, 2008)--Some 2,500 janitors and SEIU Local 105 members won an historic contract victory that is the first deal in Colorado history to cover the entire Denver Metro area (virtually every major office building in the Denver Metro area is included). SEIU Local 105 members negotiated a new four-year contract more than a week before their previous contract was set to expire.

The new deal includes an average annual salary increase of four percent; expansion of family health care benefits at NO COST to workers; and more full-time work.

"There were a lot of us who started crying when we heard about the contract,” said Rita Jaramillo, an SEIU member and janitor for 12 years in Downtown Denver. “Wages are going up, and there will be 500 more people eligible for family health care. This is really going to change people’s lives."
