This is a picture of the LMP signing ceremony including Mitch Ackerman Donna Lynn and Ernie Duran

On September 24th, 2005, SEIU members who work at Kaiser voted overwhelmingly to approve a new 5-year contract with Kaiser.

SEIU Local 105 President Mitch Ackerman hailed the new contract as a victory for both workers and patients.  “Economic security is key to ensuring the best quality workforce,” Ackerman said. "When frontline health care workers partner with an enlightened employer patients in our community win.“

Here are some key points from the National contract:

  1. Annual across-the board wage increases of all union members
  2. No increase in co-payment, no contribution to health care premium for 5 years (maintenance of benefit clause)
  3. Up to $100 million in workforce planning fund for education and training programs
  4. New defined contribution retirement plan
  5. New sick leave benefits aimed at improving attendance
  6. Backfill staffing provisions
