Jared Polis (D-CO). \u201cCongratulations to Sharon &#8211; she will bring a depth of experience in employee relations, management, and workers\u2019 rights and will represent our state with distinction.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1557\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1557\" style=\"width: 168px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seiu105.org\/es\/files\/2015\/10\/image1-e1444414046339.jpeg\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1557 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seiu105.org\/files\/2015\/10\/image1-168x300.jpeg\" alt=\"image1\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1557\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Davies visits the White House for the Summit on Worker Voice.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The summit is comprised of 220 seasoned and emerging leaders from across the country taking action in their communities to lift up workers\u2019 voices. All share a commitment to making their workplaces more fair, productive and prosperous. The White House and the U.S. Department of Labor invited groups of workers, labor leaders, advocates, employers, Members of Congress, and state and local officials. Individuals will participate in conversations that highlight the relationship between worker voice and a thriving middle class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavies has been a\u00a0front-line\u00a0health care professional for most of her life,\u201d said Stephen Cousins, Service\u00a0Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 105 Healthcare Director in his nomination remarks. \u201cAs a\u00a0front-line\u00a0health care professional at Kaiser, Sharon helps keep Boulder County healthy. She treats\u00a0everyone from children to seniors, and does so in an increasingly volatile and uncertain environment for healthcare workers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m fortunate enough to keep my dog in kibble,\u201d states Davies. \u201cA long time ago, a family could live off of minimum wage and employers gave fair increases. We all work had and we need good jobs, fair wages, leave, health care, cost of living raises for all workers.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1561\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1561\" style=\"width: 229px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seiu105.org\/es\/files\/2015\/10\/Sharon-w-Mary-Kay-e1444414033347.jpeg\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1561\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seiu105.org\/files\/2015\/10\/Sharon-w-Mary-Kay-e1444414033347-229x300.jpeg\" alt=\"Sharon Davies, L105 Executive Board Member and Kaiser Nurse with Mary Kay Henry, SEIU President\" width=\"229\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1561\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sharon Davies, L105 Executive Board Member and Kaiser Nurse with Mary Kay Henry, SEIU President<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In addition to being a full-time care provider, Davies serves on the Executive Board of SEIU Local 105 and is a leader with significant responsibilities in Kaiser&#8217;s unique Labor-Management Partnership. Kaiser Permanente and 28 local unions across the country participate in the Partnership based off of a shared set of interests to maximize patient care outcomes and experiences while making sure that Kaiser&#8217;s workers are represented.<\/p>\n<p>Davies also sponsors the Primary Care Area Leadership Team. The Team is a group consisting of regionally differentiated\u00a0front-line\u00a0care workers and union members, Kaiser Managers, and practicing\u00a0physicians. The team operates as a Consensus Driven work unit, discussing things like designing work processes, setting goals, reviewing team performance, making budgeting and staffing decisions, and using Interest-Based Problem Solving to proactively identify workplace issues.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1559\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1559\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seiu105.org\/es\/files\/2015\/10\/Sharon-Greg-Adams-Kaiser-VP-e1444413935487.jpeg\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1559 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seiu105.org\/files\/2015\/10\/Sharon-Greg-Adams-Kaiser-VP-300x168.jpeg\" alt=\"Davies &amp; Greg Adams, Kaiser VP\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1559\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Davies &amp; Greg Adams, Kaiser VP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI became a nurse to help people.\u201d Davies hopes to inform Summit participants and politicians about the daily struggles of working families bringing to light struggles families face. \u201cI don\u2019t think employers or politicians really grasp worker struggles. Some working parents have employers that don\u2019t recognize that child care providers won\u2019t accept a sick child so the employee has to take a sick day.
