Cuando mi esposa Cynthia expres\u00f3 su fuerte deseo de dejar Denver y regresar a nuestra gran red de amigos y familiares en Portland, Oreg\u00f3n, inmediatamente le dije que lo resolveremos. Despu\u00e9s de casi 9 a\u00f1os de distancia, no pod\u00eda pedirle que esperara m\u00e1s. En reuniones y llamadas telef\u00f3nicas el 25 y 26 de marzo, inform\u00e9 a nuestros funcionarios y miembros de la Junta Ejecutiva de mi renuncia planificada. El jueves, renunci\u00e9 oficialmente a la presidencia de SEIU 105 en nuestra reuni\u00f3n de la Junta Ejecutiva, y Cynthia y yo nos mudaremos de regreso a Oreg\u00f3n. De acuerdo con la Constituci\u00f3n y los Reglamentos de nuestro Local, la Junta Ejecutiva tiene hasta 60 d\u00edas para nombrar un presidente interino para cubrir est\u00e1 vacante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estoy profundamente orgulloso del trabajo que todos hemos hecho juntos en los casi nueve a\u00f1os que tuve el honor de servir como su Presidente. Nuestros miembros, l\u00edderes miembros y personal han superado todos los desaf\u00edos que se nos han presentado y compartimos un s\u00f3lido historial de \u00e9xitos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Crecimos el Local de poco m\u00e1s de 5000 miembros a casi 8000 miembros;<\/li><li>Ganamos contratos hist\u00f3ricos e innovadores en todo nuestro sindicato;<\/li><li>Elevamos el salario m\u00ednimo a nivel estatal y local, elevando los salarios de millones de trabajadores;<\/li><li>Presionamos a los pol\u00edticos para que sirvan al pueblo y apoyen a los sindicatos.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En resumen, nunca huimos de una pelea, y las ganamos cuando otros nos dijeron que eran batallas \"imposibles\" de ganar. Pero esto es lo que hace el movimiento obrero: \u00a1permite que la gente com\u00fan haga cosas extraordinarias! Los extra\u00f1ar\u00e9 a todos ustedes y a las luchas que luchamos juntos.
