A new year is always a moment to reflect, but more importantly, it\u2019s a moment to recommit. Recommit to each other. Recommit to our values. And recommit to building the power working people need not just to get by, but to win stability, security, and respect on the job. Especially in this moment of division, attacks, and uncertainty in our country, our contribution of unity and leadership will be essential for our 105 members and the community at large. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At SEIU Local 105, our strongest resource has always been our membership. And this year, we are focused on continuing to build our fighting muscles by investing in you, by organizing together, and by holding employers accountable every step of the way. You\u2019ll be hearing more in the coming months about our strategic goals for 2026 and how we plan to grow our power across the union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are starting this year from a position of strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year alone, we won back over $800,000 through grievances<\/strong>, putting real money back into members\u2019 pockets where it belongs. That didn\u2019t happen by accident. It happened because members spoke up, stewards stepped in, and our union took action. If you are facing an issue at work, please remember: reach out to a steward or organizer right away<\/strong>. You are never alone in this union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Yesterday, we held our first meeting of the year, and we didn\u2019t just talk about the work ahead \u2014 we took action. Together, members showed up in force at the Colorado State Capitol alongside workers from across the state to demand real solutions to the affordability crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n That action was a powerful reminder of who we are when we move together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the most important fights ahead of us is the Worker Protection Act.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n This bill is about strengthening our power as union members and making it fair for more workers to join unions without intimidation, delays, or retaliation. Right now, Colorado law has only put unnecessary barriers in the way of workers forming strong unions. The Worker Protection Act removes those barriers and helps level the playing field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n What does that mean for us?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2705 It means stronger power at the bargaining table. \u2705 It means, building stronger and healthier communities <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n When unions are stronger, we are stronger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n You can see coverage and photos from the Capitol action here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Power is built through action, and there are opportunities to show solidarity right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Next week, our fellow SEIU Local 105 union members at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless will be rallying as they continue fighting for their first union contract. Juntos, las y los miembros se presentaron con fuerza en el Capitolio del Estado de Colorado junto a trabajadoras y trabajadores de todo el estado para exigir soluciones reales a la crisis del costo de vida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Esa acci\u00f3n fue un poderoso recordatorio de qui\u00e9nes somos cuando nos movemos juntos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Una de las luchas m\u00e1s importantes que tenemos por delante es la Ley de Protecci\u00f3n al Trabajador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Este proyecto de ley trata de fortalecer nuestro poder como miembros del sindicato y de hacer m\u00e1s justo que m\u00e1s trabajadores puedan unirse a los sindicatos sin intimidaci\u00f3n, demoras ni represalias. En este momento, la ley de Colorado solo ha puesto barreras innecesarias que dificultan que las y los trabajadores formen sindicatos fuertes.
