Querida familia de SEIU Local 105,<\/span><\/p>

Les escribo hoy en un momento de duelo, coraje y profunda solidaridad.<\/span><\/p>

En todo el pa\u00eds, las familias trabajadoras est\u00e1n enfrentando una escalada de violencia y un exceso de poder federal llevado a cabo por ICE. En Minnesota, las muertes de <\/span>Alex Pretti<\/span>enfermero titulado y trabajador de la salud, y <\/span>Renee Good<\/span>junto con muchas otras personas que han sido da\u00f1adas bajo custodia de ICE o durante operaciones de control migratorio, han sacudido a comunidades en todo el pa\u00eds. Estas no son tragedias aisladas. Son el resultado de un sistema que ha normalizado la intimidaci\u00f3n y el miedo en nuestros vecindarios, lugares de trabajo y espacios p\u00fablicos.<\/span><\/p>

El viernes pasado, 23 de enero, miembros de SEIU en todo el pa\u00eds nos unimos en el D\u00eda Nacional de la Verdad y la Libertad.<\/span> Aqu\u00ed en Colorado, miembros de SEIU Local 105 nos unimos con Colorado WINS, Together Colorado, CIRC, Working Families Party, UNE y muchos otros aliados laborales y comunitarios para llevar a cabo una acci\u00f3n frente a la sede de Palantir en Denver.<\/span><\/p>

Elegimos tomar acci\u00f3n en <\/span>Palantir<\/span> porque corporaciones como esta est\u00e1n jugando, de manera silenciosa, un papel central en esta crisis. Palantir mantiene contratos multimillonarios y de larga duraci\u00f3n con ICE y otras agencias federales, proporcionando an\u00e1lisis de datos y tecnolog\u00eda de vigilancia que facilitan la aplicaci\u00f3n de leyes migratorias, el rastreo, la detenci\u00f3n y la deportaci\u00f3n. Mientras nuestras comunidades viven con miedo, corporaciones como Palantir se benefician vendiendo poderosos sistemas de datos al gobierno federal, con poca rendici\u00f3n de cuentas y sin considerar el costo humano.<\/span><\/p>

Mientras Palantir construye redes de datos dise\u00f1adas para vigilar y atacar a las comunidades, <\/span>nosotros estamos construyendo algo muy distinto<\/span>: una red basada en el cuidado, la solidaridad y la protecci\u00f3n colectiva. Nuestro poder viene de cuidarnos mutuamente, compartir informaci\u00f3n, conocer nuestros derechos y negarnos a que el miedo nos a\u00edsle. Eso es lo que fuimos a hacer visible.<\/span><\/p>

M\u00e1s de 100 personas se presentaron para decir claramente: nuestras comunidades no est\u00e1n en venta, y no aceptamos un sistema donde las ganancias corporativas est\u00e9n por encima de la vida y la dignidad humanas. La acci\u00f3n fue fuerte, disciplinada y basada en el cuidado mutuo, y fue cubierta por medios locales, incluyendo Westword:<\/span>

Qu\u00e9 est\u00e1 pasando ahora<\/span><\/p>

Hoy y durante este fin de semana, personas en todo el pa\u00eds se est\u00e1n movilizando en lo que muchos llaman una \u201chuelga general\u201d o un \u201capag\u00f3n econ\u00f3mico\u201d. Esto se ve distinto para distintas personas y distintas industrias. Lo que representa es una negativa colectiva a aceptar que todo siga igual mientras nuestras comunidades est\u00e1n bajo ataque. <\/span><\/p>

Aqu\u00ed en Colorado, esa presi\u00f3n ya se est\u00e1 sintiendo. Decenas de restaurantes y cafeter\u00edas en el \u00e1rea metropolitana de Denver han cerrado por el d\u00eda para generar un impacto econ\u00f3mico y exigir rendici\u00f3n de cuentas. The Denver Post informa c\u00f3mo estas acciones forman parte de un esfuerzo m\u00e1s amplio para proteger a nuestras comunidades y enfrentar el abuso de poder federal:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Educadores en nuestra comunidad tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n alzando la voz sobre lo que la seguridad y el sentido de pertenencia deben significar para cada estudiante. Para nuestros miembros, especialmente quienes trabajan en el sector de la salud, tomar acci\u00f3n no significa poner en riesgo a pacientes ni a compa\u00f1eros de trabajo. Hay muchas maneras de participar y mostrar solidaridad, incluyendo asistir a protestas comunitarias cuando sea posible, alzar la voz, compartir informaci\u00f3n y dejar de comprar productos no esenciales como parte de una presi\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica m\u00e1s amplia. Nuestro sindicato existe para momentos como este. Lloramos a quienes hemos perdido, protegemos a quienes siguen aqu\u00ed y nos organizamos para que nadie enfrente esto solo. Cuando los trabajadores inmigrantes est\u00e1n protegidos, todos los trabajadores lo est\u00e1n. Cuando uno de nosotros es da\u00f1ado, es una agresi\u00f3n contra todos.<\/span><\/p>
