🗳 SEIU Local 105 Announces 2020 Candidate Endorsements

DENVER, CO – The 8,000 member strong janitors, airport workers, healthcare workers, and security officers of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 105 have officially announced their endorsements for the upcoming election on November 3rd.

SEIU Local 105 is proud to be a member-led union. As such it was the union’s service worker membership – black, brown, and white – from across Colorado that interviewed dozens of candidates and made the important decisions to endorse leaders who are committed to putting working families first in our state.

“This is the most important election in our lifetime. Now more than ever, we must elect leaders that will stand united with workers to fight for a better future,” said Ron Ruggiero, President of SEIU Local 105. “No matter where you come from or the color of your skin, our communities need elected leaders who will fight for racial and economic justice because we cannot have one without the other.”

Workers across the country continue to grapple with the double pandemic of COVID-19 and record unemployment. Since the beginning of the first stay-at-home orders, essential workers have had to fight for personal protective equipment, essential pay, and paid sick leave while continuing to put their lives on the line every day. SEIU Local 105 members are confident that these endorsements will set the tone in the fight for a new normal in our state. We know that together we can make the way to a better future for all Coloradans.

“We are proud to endorse local champions who both understand the real issues affecting working people and are dedicated to making lasting change in our communities,” said Michael Howard, President of Committee on Political Education (COPE) for SEIU Local 105. “We need leaders who will fight for better working conditions, higher wages, safer workplaces, and the freedom to join together in unions. There is so much at stake this election, and we are ready to put in the work to win on November 3rd.”
