As we begin 2026, I want to start by saying how proud I am of this union and of you.
A new year is always a moment to reflect, but more importantly, it’s a moment to recommit. Recommit to each other. Recommit to our values. And recommit to building the power working people need not just to get by, but to win stability, security, and respect on the job. Especially in this moment of division, attacks, and uncertainty in our country, our contribution of unity and leadership will be essential for our 105 members and the community at large.
At SEIU Local 105, our strongest resource has always been our membership. And this year, we are focused on continuing to build our fighting muscles by investing in you, by organizing together, and by holding employers accountable every step of the way. You’ll be hearing more in the coming months about our strategic goals for 2026 and how we plan to grow our power across the union.
We are starting this year from a position of strength.
Last year alone, we won back over $800,000 through grievances, putting real money back into members’ pockets where it belongs. That didn’t happen by accident. It happened because members spoke up, stewards stepped in, and our union took action. If you are facing an issue at work, please remember: reach out to a steward or organizer right away. You are never alone in this union.
Building Momentum Together
Yesterday, we held our first meeting of the year, and we didn’t just talk about the work ahead — we took action. Together, members showed up in force at the Colorado State Capitol alongside workers from across the state to demand real solutions to the affordability crisis.
That action was a powerful reminder of who we are when we move together.
The Worker Protection Act: Growing Our Power
One of the most important fights ahead of us is the Worker Protection Act.
This bill is about strengthening our power as union members and making it fair for more workers to join unions without intimidation, delays, or retaliation. Right now, Colorado law has only put unnecessary barriers in the way of workers forming strong unions. The Worker Protection Act removes those barriers and helps level the playing field.
What does that mean for us?
✅ It means stronger power at the bargaining table.
✅ It means more workers organizing, which raises standards across entire industries.
✅ It means better wages, stronger benefits, safer workplaces, and more leverage to push back against rising costs for housing, health care, groceries, and child care.
✅ It means a stronger labor movement that can win contracts that actually keep up with the cost of living.
✅ It means, building stronger and healthier communities
When unions are stronger, we are stronger.

What Can You Do Right Now?
Power is built through action, and there are opportunities to show solidarity right now.
Next week, our fellow SEIU Local 105 union members at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless will be rallying as they continue fighting for their first union contract. These workers provide critical services to our community, and they deserve a fair contract that respects their work and their dignity.

Showing up matters. When workers see other union members standing with them, it sends a powerful message to employers that we have each other’s backs.

Al comenzar el 2026, quiero empezar diciendo lo orgullosa que estoy de este sindicato y de cada uno de ustedes.
Un nuevo año siempre es un momento para reflexionar, pero más importante aún, es un momento para reafirmar nuestro compromiso. Reafirmar nuestro compromiso entre nosotros. Reafirmar nuestro compromiso con nuestros valores. Y reafirmar nuestro compromiso de construir el poder que las personas trabajadoras necesitan no solo para salir adelante, sino para ganar estabilidad, seguridad y respeto en el trabajo. Especialmente en este momento de división, ataques e incertidumbre en nuestro país, nuestra contribución de unidad y liderazgo será esencial para nuestras y nuestros miembros del 105 y para la comunidad en general.
En SEIU Local 105, nuestro recurso más fuerte siempre ha sido nuestra membresía. Y este año, estamos enfocados en seguir fortaleciendo nuestros músculos de lucha invirtiendo en ustedes, organizándonos juntos y exigiendo que los empleadores rindan cuentas en cada paso del camino. En los próximos meses, escucharán más sobre nuestras metas estratégicas para 2026 y cómo planeamos seguir creciendo nuestro poder en todo el sindicato.
Comenzamos este año desde una posición de fortaleza.
Tan solo el año pasado, recuperamos más de $800,000 a través de quejas, poniendo dinero real de regreso en los bolsillos de las y los miembros, donde pertenece. Eso no ocurrió por casualidad. Ocurrió porque las y los miembros alzaron la voz, las y los delegados sindicales intervinieron y nuestro sindicato actuó. Si estás enfrentando un problema en el trabajo, por favor recuerda: comunícate de inmediato con tu delegado sindical o con un organizador. Nunca estás solo o sola en este sindicato.
Construyendo impulso juntos
Ayer tuvimos nuestra primera reunión del año, y no solo hablamos del trabajo que viene: actuamos. Juntos, las y los miembros se presentaron con fuerza en el Capitolio del Estado de Colorado junto a trabajadoras y trabajadores de todo el estado para exigir soluciones reales a la crisis del costo de vida.
Esa acción fue un poderoso recordatorio de quiénes somos cuando nos movemos juntos.
La Ley de Protección al Trabajador: Creciendo Nuestro Poder
Una de las luchas más importantes que tenemos por delante es la Ley de Protección al Trabajador.
Este proyecto de ley trata de fortalecer nuestro poder como miembros del sindicato y de hacer más justo que más trabajadores puedan unirse a los sindicatos sin intimidación, demoras ni represalias. En este momento, la ley de Colorado solo ha puesto barreras innecesarias que dificultan que las y los trabajadores formen sindicatos fuertes. La Ley de Protección al Trabajador elimina esas barreras y ayuda a nivelar el terreno.
¿Qué significa eso para nosotros?
✅ Significa mayor poder en la mesa de negociación.
✅ Significa que más trabajadores se organicen, elevando los estándares en industrias enteras.
✅ Significa mejores salarios, beneficios más sólidos, lugares de trabajo más seguros y mayor capacidad para enfrentar el aumento de los costos de vivienda, atención médica, alimentos y cuidado infantil.
✅ Significa un movimiento laboral más fuerte que pueda ganar contratos que realmente se mantengan al ritmo del costo de vida.
✅ Significa construir comunidades más fuertes y saludables.
Cuando los sindicatos son más fuertes, nosotros somos más fuertes.

¿Qué puedes hacer ahora mismo?
El poder se construye a través de la acción, y en este momento hay oportunidades para mostrar solidaridad.
La próxima semana, nuestras y nuestros compañeros miembros de SEIU Local 105 en la Colorado Coalition for the Homeless estarán realizando una manifestación mientras continúan luchando por su primer contrato sindical. Estas y estos trabajadores brindan servicios fundamentales a nuestra comunidad, y merecen un contrato justo que respete su trabajo y su dignidad.
