Fast food and Home Care workers came together to Fight for $15 an hour and the right to form a union at our latest #fightfor15 action on Thursday, December 4th.
For the first time ever, Home care workers joined the fight at both actions and will continue to organize in the Denver metro area.
“I love caring for people and would do what I do for free but I have to pay rent and care for my family,” says Sue Buckland. “My work helps people stay independent and active in their own homes and allows them to live with dignity.”
Many Home Care workers across the country and in Colorado are CNAs or Certified Nurse Assistants like Sue. Working either at nursing home facilities or through an agency caring for individuals at home, they provide a vital service in this fast growing industry.
Zahra Kulane, a Denver based Home Care worker joined the campaign a few weeks back, “You have to have a passion to do it, to help people. I’m connected to them, to old people and people in need. I know the pain and I have the passion. But it’s just not enough to live on.”
