In-state Tuition for Colorado Undocumented Students Signed into Law

SEIU Local 105 along with fellow Higher Education Access Alliance (HEAA)  organizations took the stage at Metro State University Monday, April 29, 2013 with Governor John Hickenlooper to celebrate the signing of the Colorado ASSET (Advancing Students for a Stronger Economic Tomorrow)  bill which will grant in-state tuition to undocumented Colorado students.

“Its been a ten year battle to get this legislation passed but finally our day has come,” said Irma Garcia, a property services member that attended the signing ceremony. “We are proud of all the hard work of our students. Now they have a chance at fulfilling their dreams of higher education.”

The bill passed out of the Colorado State Legislature with bipartisan support.
