Help Union Members Affected by Wildfires

Over the past week, the Aspen Acres fire in Southern Colorado has devastated over 90,000 acres of forest, destroyed more than 180 structures, and disrupted the lives of thousands of working families throughout the region. We already know of over 170 members from various unions who have been evacuated, with many losing their homes, and this disastrous fire is still less than 20% contained.

If you have been affected by the Aspen Acres fire and are a member of SEIU Local 105, please use this form to notify us of your situation!

In times like this, union members have each others’ backs. The Southern Colorado Labor Council and the Colorado AFL-CIO are already working to raise funds for affected members and their families, and will be hosting a benefit fundraiser later this week to continue aiding those in need!

Cuando: Friday, July 10th from 6- 8 PM

Dónde: United Steelworkers Hall, 1414 E Evans Ave, Pueblo

If you want to help, but can’t make it to Pueblo, the organizers of this event are also asking for online donations to go towards relief for those affected. You can donate aquí or using the button below. We are working with Working Families’ Friend to cover emergency expenses for our members who are displaced.

With your donation, leave a comment saying “to Southern Colorado Labor Council”.

If you’d like to help, but cannot make a donation, please share this information with your fellow members and loved ones. You can also share the flier below, which you can download at this link. You can also share this list of restaurants in the area providing free meals to evacuees and first responders!

Events like the Aspen Acres fire are devastating for working families, but even in the most difficult times, efforts such as these show that the power of our union solidarity can help carry us through. Thank you for any support you can lend in this uplifting effort with our union family.

In Unity,

Stephanie Felix-Sowy
